Lamarck believed in inherited traits by adaptation. Thus the giraffe needed to have long neck and this was ped on the offspring. In Darwinian evolution those who had long neck could survive better in time of drought. An example of Lamarckian evolution would be the vestigial eyes of moles and of cave-dwelling animals which would be due to gradual reduction from disuse.
