Is Secularism really a religion? And if so is it gaining preferential treatment by our government?

All around us the government seeks to take any mention of God out of the public eye. Political correctness has become the edict of faith and the greatest "sin" that anyone can commit is to hurt someone's feelings. To call Secularism a religion is not a new concept. Congress talked about the danger of taking the Secular religion to far back in the 70's. The first amendment says that congress cannot write any law giving preference to any religion over another. Are they violating the spirit of that law by making everything Secular?
