Is it okay to smack a dog on the if he is misbehaving and he knows it?? -read more-?

It's not a good thing to do because dogs don't respond to hitting as a corrective device. Most people hit dogs thinking that they are correcting them when in actuality all they're doing is just releasing their frustration and/or anger on the pet (I'm not accusing you of this however since I don't even know you). The best way to correct a dog is to catch it during his bad behavior and get in his face and yell NO! Also reward and praise the pet for good behavior. I suggest you consult a good dog trainer in your area for more advice.
